Ordered online. Costa Rican Tattazu.

The good: most important - the coffee was good - if you like dark roasts. The price was good compared to other online roasteries. Coffee arrived fresh (seems to have been roasted within 2 weeks or less).

The fair (why this is not a 5-star review): the bags did not have a one way degassing valve, it did not have a roasting date (which is why I was guessing about when it was roasted) and I didn't know the roast level when i bought it was it is not listed on the website.

Why is a degassing valve important? Freshly roasted coffee will release gas/co2. Because the coffee was fresh, the bags were fully inflated to the point they were ready to burst! I had to rebag the coffee into bags with a valve.

Also the coffee arrived in a french roast (you can tell by the dark color and "oily" look on the beans). The product description did not indicate a roast level. So if you do not like dark roasts (my spouse does not), then don't get this.

Roast date: If I'm paying for fresh coffee, then I want to know that the coffee I'm getting is less than 2 weeks old (preferably 1 week)

These minor fixes will make this a five star rating!

Thank you for your thoughtful review and for choosing our Costa Rican Tarrazú. We're glad to hear you enjoyed the coffee and appreciated its freshness and value.

We also sincerely appreciate your feedback regarding the roast level, roast date, and packaging. Comments like yours help us continue improving.

Since your order, we have updated our product listings to clearly identify the roast level of each coffee so customers can make more informed selections based on their preferences.

Regarding the degassing valve, you were absolutely correct. At the time of your order, we experienced a supply issue with our usual valve-equipped bags and had to temporarily use alternative packaging. We understand how important proper degassing is for freshly roasted coffee and have since returned to using bags with one-way valves.

We also recognize the value of providing roast dates and are continually working to improve the information we provide to our customers, from now on you'll find that date!

Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience. We truly appreciate your business and your constructive feedback, and we hope to earn that 5-star rating on your next order!
